Has anyone painted there exhaust ? any recomendations for products ?

Reason being mine are a chrome set (56 plate) and have lost probably most of there good looks and generaly look untidy. The rust is also taken most of the chrome and working its way into a hole.

A new set of headers is too epensive and dont seem to see any standard ones on the bay.

Would prefer to paint (brush) rather than spray and the bike is one of the rarer black ones

Motorcycle exhaust treatments.

Your problem is not uncommom - most exhaust systems, particully chromed ones do degenerate in time.

I never specify chrome, preferring the standard stainless steel system which can be kept polished and doesn't suffer stones chips.

I run an 2005 R1200RT with 33,000 since I bought it new and the pipes still come up like new. My 2007 R1200GS with 13,500 miles also still has shiny pipes. Of course when ridden they both discolour but if polished regularly they remain good.
I do have to work at them with Wonder Wheels(no good for chrome systems) and Autosol + a little elbow grease!

A colleague and I have looked into other methods of permanently keeping the pipes looking uniform and came up with this company which is pricey.

If you search the web you will find other companies as well.

If you find a system which works and is reasonable please post it here as many other people may well be interested.

Until then I'll keep polishing.

Good luck and safe riding.

You might check into this company too. http://www.jet-hot.com/

Also pricey. But supposedly it stays looking good and is essentially chip-proof.

Good luck and best wishes.
