Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT5EB-K

Thinking about a GoPro type camera to take on the annual bike tour along with my Panasonic G1 small SLR type camera but thinking I could kill two birds with one stone & buy a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT5EB-K which takes excellent still photo's & also films movie clips in HD when fixed to a Ram mount on the bike & takes up less room in the panniers etc.

Has anyone used their compact digital camera to make movies like this or will I be wasting my money & just get the GoPro ?
