How rain proof are the standard BMW side paniers?

I'm sure this has been asked/answered before but I couldn't find any post about this :nenau

EDIT: hmmmm... that's probably because it's spelled pannier ;-)

I have never had a problem weth my ones .

In my experience having used these panniers on my first GS they were very good. They have a seal that runs round the inside of the edges that come together. Only once did some of my clothes get wet and that was because I trapped something when closing them. Easy done by the way.

I used them for a few thousand miles and they are good panniers. The main issue of course is that they open out from the top and pivot down. This meant that I had to pack each half carefully and make sure that the internal bungee straps held it all in place while closing.

They are sturdy and you bounce of cars really well with them .... :D

I have the BM Aly box panniers now on my 1150ADV but for everyday local use the system panniers are really usefull. You can take them of in a couple of seconds and they are easy to carry with the built in handle

Hope that helps....... :thumb2

me neither.

Thanks, sounds promising. I'd like to be prepared for the worst when going from Sweden to Holland (and back) around X-mas.

What about BMW's tankbag? (which I intend to replace since it's too small to fit a decent map and hell to carry without a decent strap, but that probably won't happen before the new year)
