Hello fellow GSer's,

finally just got myself a 1150 GS a 2001 model, and what a brilliant bike they are, especially afer coming from a 1983 800 RT. My first posting on this site so please be gentle.

Now, could anybody offer advice on the best pannier system to use? I am looking at the Hepco and Becker panniers in aluminum or the Gobi plastic ones, and also the Touratec panniers.

All advice welcome with as little abuse as possible.

Cheers

Hello and welcome.

Have a look in the FAQ's section. A new thread has been started on Pannier systems.

It's not exhaustive but may answer some questions for you. (We're still waiting for write-ups on some of the available panniers out there).

I can see you've read a few of the threads here before posting  :D :D :D

I would agree with what MikeP just said but would add two things

The first is a user friendly link to the pannier FAQ

The second is a suggestion. If you come to the BMF or any of the other rallies you can have a look at a number of systems in the flesh and compare them side by side. Most of us don't bite so walk up and ask :thumb

Oh and welcome aboard :beerjug:

Or you could pop along to the West Midlands Wobble on June 10th / 11th. There will be loads of GS's there and a great BBQ and band. We'll only charge you a tenner for the experience and you can follow some of the panniers arounds on a ride out and see how much gear they get in them on the campsite :thumb It's only up the road for you, just outside Evesham :beerjug: Look in the Events section :bounce1

Alternatively, if you need to have a look before then, there are some wise old heads (and some younger more stupid ones) at the Fish & Anchor, just outside Evesham - First Tuesday in the month. Come along for a  , the foods good too. There's usually a wide range of panniers on show (just to carry the knitting patterns :ymca ).

Fat chance around here :D

They're the one you want :thumb

thanks for a warm welcome

Cheers for your reply chaps.

Sounds like a meet up in Evesham next month is the way forward.

Mark could you tell me how much you want for your panniers? I have visited the website and they look very expensive and very well made. Can I fit them myself.

Jon.

Hi Jon

You should be able to fit 'em if I managed - only a 2-3 on the Cuss Scale.

They are well-made indeed, but as I say, some of us are pannier junkies...

Drop me an e-mail: mark AT freemanchristie.co.uk
