I have got some deep score marks on the panniers that came with the bike and would like to hear from any one who has come up with a suitable repair to remove the damaged areas and perhaps have it painted or had found someone to reform the surface back to normal.

Neil,

look up 'Chips Away' in your Yellow Pages - they are a franchised outfit who specialise in stone chips etc. They also do repairs & repaints to plastic bumpers - they repaired the scrapes on my ST1100's panniers - dead cheap (in the order of £20 IIRC) and undetectable job...

Mike:)

Dropped my bike with panniers on quite hard at about 80kph a while back - the pannier really saved the bike but one of the top tabs that hold it to the rail broke off. I took it to a 'plastic rebuilder' - the guys that fix car plastic bumpers etc. They remade and fitted a new mounting tab that was an exact replica of the original AND without asking filled the gouges in the side and resurfaced like new (and all surpisingly reasonable!)
