passo di gavia....anybody ridden it?

always wanted to say that! i'm of to italy and more especially lake garda on friday , i've persuaded her indoors that she needs a day by the pool whilst i slope of to the stelvio pass(gonna be gone all day!)by way of "campo carlo magno and passo di gavia , was just wondering if anybody had ridden passo di gavia as it looks great but i,m gonna be on road biased tyres and the center section of the pass looks like a footpath clinging precariously to the side of the mountain....anyone ridden it ? love to get some info...craig

I'tl be no problem for you,I was over it earlier on this year on a cbr. tar mac all the way a bit bumpy on the north side but nothing to worry about, great road very narrow from the south.

I have and it's scary .. although most roads are scary for me.

I have no photos apart from this one at the top as I was so bloody scared all the way up that I didn't stop.

The road is really narrow. Think single track road in the UK but with a f***** deep drop on one side. It's also a two way road.

When I went in 08, it had fresh tarmac on it so that made it a little better.

If you like your twisty mountain roads, this is far more exciting than the Stelvio.
