just get a network crossover cable and use the network connections. They cost about £3

Got one myself but I thought I'd share it as it was PC 2 Mac, and didn't know whether a usb crossover cable would work with Mac.

Its not a USB cable I was on about but a network crossover cable. Its a universal connection for any computer that can be networked, doesn't matter is its windows linux or mac os. Anything made in the last 2-3 years should be able to transfer data at 1Gb/s as opposed to 480Mb/s so just over twice as fast as a bonus. Admittedly your cable might well be more fool proof but that depends how easy it is to setup.
