Below is a problem I had with my Zumo 550 which I flukely managed to fix for info.
I could connect to the PC ok and communicate/send from Mapsource to the device ok but when trying to recieve from the device it would say no Routes, waypounts, tracks or Maps are on the device, when there actually were.
I also noticed that when connecting to the PC it only showed 1% when preparing to go into the Mass storage preparation and storing in GPX which happened very quickly.
I had also tried to delete the Temp.gpx file to see if it would create a new one which it did not at this point.
I hadone last go at trying to fix it and stored 7 routes I'd made in mapsource onto the device and then disconnected and imported them on the Zumo, when I then checked to see the list of routes in the Zumo there were only 6 of mine and a another blank route (*no idea how it got there or when ). I deleted the blank route and went through the process of loading all 7 routes of my routes on to the Zumo again. This time when I re-connected to the PC it went through the full 100% preparation for usb storage and GPX and I managed to then recieve from the device as I should be able to. I then checked in the Garmin folder and found a new Temp.gpx file ands also a current.gpx file which was never there at all. All is now working as it should it would seem so I have cancelled the courier pick up that Garmin are arranging for Monday to take the unit back for futher investigation.
The guy at Garmin had tried 3 different versions of Mapsource to re-create the problem but could not. To me it looks like that blank route was in some way corrupted and preventing the unit operating correctly but that about as technical as I get with this fault. I don't doubt the Guy at Garmin was trying to help me but I felt that 2 days of me waiting to get any sort of feedback was a bit excessive if all he tried was 3 different versions of Mapsource which can be downloaded and tried within an hour. After the first day and a half when I called back to Garmin and eventualy spoke to the guy he asked me if I'd rebooted the unit (which I had as he'd askled me too)he just said leave it with me and I had to call back the next day to chase it up again. I appreciate they might take a high load of calls but for me if one of them has to work on an issue then they should until it's fixed or they call straight back to the customer to let them know the situation. I had dealings before about Mapsource on a seperate issue and the girl I spoke to was great and provided instant help and emailed me when she said she would.
Anyway it works now and above are my findings incase they help someone else.
cheers
