Hi,

Anyone advise how to cure the following:

During normal PC use, suddenly, mouse stops wotring. Sometimes can be restored by unplugging and replugging. I have tried a different mouse, same prob.

Have tried wireless mouse to avoid disturbing the usb connection in case it is contact prob, but it is a bugger to get the PC to recognise it.

I am wondering if it is a driver clash.

Any clues how to solve?

P4 Compaq EVO N1020v

Running W2K.

TIA,

BIN

fancy that

My evo N800c does that too now and again- then tells me there has been a surge- so have to reset.
Update your drivers from your mouse supplier's web site-
Still haven't resolved some usb issues when using my hub - like garmin updates- they fail when gps plugges into hubb  so unplug the hub, plug in the garmin, all goes well until I replug the hub in then...the usb port has experienced a power surge........I hope it enjoyed it :D
Bring back 3.1 :rob

i solved a similar problem by running my wireless USB mouse from a self powered hub. it seems there was not enough power in the ancient motherboards USB1 sockets :nenau

Ah, I had this too. I've got old tech (2002 USB 1). I mostly got rid of it by disconnecting my external hard drive from my firewire port, and connecting it to a USB port instead. It also seems to have helped to remove everything I didn'nt need from startup using msconfig (start button/run/msconfig/startup)
