PDA GPS has moved on to ‘add on’ modules that receive RDS traffic information giving you traffic congestion warnings as you drive/ride, with options to route around it, plus speed camera warnings via another module.

'Pocket GPS' have the system on test and will shortly produce a review

All well and good but has anyone found a waterproof PDA yet?

I've tried the Compaq/HP rugged pack and OK, it works but the thing is massive, might as well mount my laptop on the cross bar...

I've done 30,000 km with my Ipaq 3970 sans cover and no problems. It sits behind the windscreen of the BMW and hasn't got wet yet, not that I ride much in the rain here in sun drenched Aus. I guess If I did get concerned I would slide it in the top of the mapcase of the tankbag and rely on the map on the Magellan Meridian that sits beside it :)

DCoplin,

Try either Brodit waterproof motorcycle pda mount at www.brodit.com

or

Otterbox 3600 & handlebar mount at www.otterbox.com

Both offer a totally waterproof mounted solution to users of pda based sat-nav systems, with connectivity to cables.

The Brodit option is expensive at £140, and I don't think will fit onto standard GS handlebars, so I have plumped for the Otterbox option, which I will get on Tuesday - cannot wait.

The other plus is that you can use other things in it - I often use my iPod on my bike and now I can use it in the case and power it up too.

Marvelous!!!
