Just three tossers made the pilgrimage to the Peak District to ride the highways and byways today - Mike, Martin and me.

On the downside, the very first lane (the now gravelled ascent out of Holymoorside) we attempted was the subject of a TRO.

On the up side, we didn't get chased around the quarry (at Hassop??).

A much-welcome lunch stop at the Woodbine Cafe in Hope for quiche and tea was followed by the ascent of Chapelgate. It was half way up this massive challenge that some battery charging issues on my bike reared their ugly heads. I stalled it and couldn't restart the fecker. Doing a U-turn to bump start the bike is not so easy but after much huffing and puffing I got the bike to the top.

After the decent of the steps ....

.... we headed back to the van, loaded and arrived in my local at about 7pm.

Another great day!

Thanks especially to Mike for the van and driving.

Bamford (opp The Marquis of Granby) late afternoon?

If so yes.

If so yes.

If the Marquis of Granby is a 2* hotel that appears to be closed for a refurb/demolition, we filled up there at about 1.30pm and rode past again at about 4pm (1 x yellow DR-Z and 2 x KTM)

Is that lane near Holymoorside TRO'd? If so,any idea why??!! It's been graded with about 100000000tonnes of road waste and it's TRO'd?!:augie:augie

I think it said something about surface repairs. The TRO was until December(??) and was started a couple of days before our ride.
