A big 'thank you' to Andy Melton for organising a top weekend's riding in the North of England ... the weather was kind except on the Monday, when torrential rain put paid to Hardknott etc ...

We stayed for a couple of nights at YHA Hartington Hall ... not yer average Youth Hostel

... by the way lads, the Queens Hotel in Ambleside has been dropped from the 2006 CAMRA guide, which explains why it was so shite ... not that this matters much to Andy, the GROLSCH drinking pussy

... and BTW, think of the taxi ride as a tax rebate ;)

What a brilliant weekend!

Thanks again to Andy for some great roads around The Peak and Lake Districts :thumb (He then rushed straight off to 'pedal' bike around Ireland  )
Excellent accomodation courtesy of the YHA which I joined straight away taking into account the very comfortable rooms and tasty and very reasonably priced food (try a 3 course meal for £8).
Thanks to the guys for great company and for lots of laughs and bike talk bollocks.
The driver of the taxi back to the digs on the Sunday was also top totty even though me and Fred could only see the back of her head ;)

Enjoyed our ford rideout..............in the carpark of the truckers stop going home on Monday. I'm actually starting to like riding in the rain.

That looks Like Settle viaduct? Haven't been along that way in a long time!! :)

:thumb Its actually at Ribblehead, on the Settle to Carlisle railway ... I think the structure itself is called Batty Moss viaduct.

I've travelled across it by train, which is well worth doing ... the whole line is spectacular, as is the road up from Horton-in-Ribblesdale ... an awesome selection of twisties, with very few bikes on it at this time of year.

Top man

Another great ride out with our "sheep dog" in the front leading us sheep along.

The Melton man knows all the best roads. A big thanks to Andy for all his efforts.

Good trip and YHA's will be the new camping in my book!!!

Fred the cat :thumb
