Anyone got any idea where they expect this damn sticker to be attached as I've just about had enough of the whole importing bike messing around now!!!!!

Mess about isnt the word and to make matters more interesting my missus is having hers inspected for the first time tomorrow and the battery has died.
Got a pic of it? I cant think where you may have put it.
Why they cant be more specific is annoying as if you get it in the wrong place its a looong wait for another.

Sorry long day at work and this to come home to :(

I presume importing a bike to oz is quite hard?

Me and the mrs are presently applying to move over there (so if you have any work going ;) ) and id like to take my bike over.

Welcome to Western Australia.:D

I had far less hassles when I shipped myself and my bike back to UK. Loads of hassle importing a bike isn't it, and Niddrie nameplates aren't exactly quick either. And to think that people moan about the UK being full of pedantic beauracracy.

I put my sticker under the seat on my rear subframe next to the rear shock mount.

I guess you just need to get another day riding permit then visit the Pits again for the final compliance inspection, then pay the inspection fee plus the fee for your plates.

Almost there........:augie

Vilguy here's the process as best I remember it.

1 Own bike for 12 months and be able to prove it.
2 Show purchase cost and apply to import Whilst still in the UK
3 Get bike shipped over with house contents. In sea container.
4 Collect bike from handlers by either getting a temp permit to ride or some form of transport.
5 Get another temp permit to ride and pay for inspection (over phone is best) then take bike to inspection station. Some you can book others you cant, so be prepared to wait.
6 Get paper work to apply for the Niddrie import plate and send that off. Waita while.
7 Attach plate to bike and then stage 5 again so you can show plate fitted and get the rego and plate made up.
8 Enjoy bike.

Well its something like that anyway.

Punkmeister I now know after 7 months of being here why its called WA ie Wait Awhile :augie

The actual inspection doesnt take to long provided the bikes standard and you know where the VIN and Engine numbers are.
And there readable.

Both our bikes have been valued by the local BMW dealer at around $10,000 each.
About £4800 at todays exchange rate. He wont buy them or do part ex as there imports but that just goes to show its a fair valuation in my book as he has nothing to gain.
As I only paid £4000 for mine and it was valued for import at £3500 And the missus F650GS cost £2750 and was valued for import at £2400 I think thats a lot of extra cash to find to buy new/second hand bikes.

Oh and dont forget if your like me you dont want to sell your bike because well, its your bike!!!!!:D
