Petrol Gauge

I decided to go out on the Gs(1100) today and promptly filled up with fuel. After about twenty miles or so I noticed that there were only 7 bars showing. I checked the tank and I had filled up but something is obviosy wrong with the Float??
Anyone got a simple way to check and fix?? Before I go in ham fistedly.

When I had this problem I followed the advice of Mick Fagan and cleaned the electrical connection to the tank.

I clean both the socket and plug side with Scotch Bright and it's been fine since.
