There is some info here

From the web site...

Until now GPS systems have had two major drawbacks: they don’t perform well in built-up areas (and hardly at all indoors) and they are relatively expensive. Philips’ A-GPS is about to change all that – it’s more accurate and performs better. And the good news for consumers is that A-GPS also costs less – estimates show it’s two to three times cheaper than current GPS technologies.

Blue sky at the moment....

Europe just gave in to the USofA over the GPS satellites they wanted to launch so that the new Europe GPS Satellites will now have less accuracy and strength than the current ones in orbit...

Something to do with 9-11 or more likely the commercial interests of the US..

Anyway, all Philips are doing is remembering where you last were and trying to guess where you are now. The fundamental failure of GPS is the loss of signal in canyons (buildings etc) which is why "Asset Trackers" are moving towards GSM triangulation systems. Check the Tracker Phones (which pub is your salesman in!!!)

It will not be long before GSM/3G navigators come on the market
