Phone volume with Autocom

Finally got all the bits working...

Autocom Active Plus

Ipod via Boostaroo

6300 Nokia auto answers, I'm as clear as a bell when talking, but I can only hear the other person clearly if I'm below around 50mph...

Phone volume on high
Autocom rider volume on high..

Music is fine up to around 90mph, so could do with a bit more volume so I can have a conversation....

Anyone had this problem

I would say you need to check your speaker positioning, if both of your audio levels are low this is the most common problem we fnd when we see customers booked in with the same issues.

The Nokia should be plenty loud enough as Nokia as a rule tend to supply good audio levels as we use to run them as company mobiles ourselves. For the ipod again speaker postioning is crutial to obtain good levels, the boostaroo should not be needed either as we use iPhones for testing here plugged straight in with good levels into the higher figures.

Do you wear ear plugs? As if the riders volume is ran on full and no plugs are worn this definately would point at speaker positioning.

Thanks Rich, just picked this up... I do wear foam plugs, and the music is fine at the level I have it set up ... its just the phone volume that is low,,, I have to slow and duck down under the screen to hear more clearly... I'll have a mess about to see if I can get the speakers re-positioned but I've got a feeling it will mean hacking about with the liners (again)

Even with in ear monitors the volume isn't loud enough above anout 50mph from my Ipod. I'm going to try a booster.

Still, always good service from Autocom. On my full face helmet, with the Vox turned right down and an open-face kit fitted to the mic it keeps opening a channel whenever there's a side-gust of wind. Popped by the stand at the NEC show, where they thought it might be a dodgy noise-sensor, so they gave me a new one foc! I'll try that.

I've refitted the headset into a new helmet now with a new BGNS and an in-line amp.

Volume (and sound quality) seems much better - just need to wait until it stops raining to see how it works in motion.

I am not pointing the finger but I have a mate who had similar problems with the lack of volume on his Autocom. The unit was returned to them for checking but it was OK. He doesn't have a phone connected just music and he even tried different ipods!

He eventually found the problem with the headset, no not faulty, the ear pads were facing outwards!!!

PS, I have no problems with the volume on mine, it is cranked up fully when I have plugs in and I can have conversations at all speeds!! If I am in town and don't fit plugs, it is too blooming loud though!!

I have the problem with in-ear monitors too, and I don't think you can get those the wrong way around
