Over the years my digital photo / video collection has accululated in various places depending on what device was used to take them. I therefore have the collection spread over Olympus Camedia, Samsung PC Studio, Samsung PC Studio 3, Samsung Inteli Studio.

Do you guys/gals have any recomendations for an organiser that will present all these files in a pleasing way. There are duplicate file names for individual photos so I am thinking they should be organised in dated directories or renamed automatically.

Once organised I would like to burn the videos to dvd to watch on the TV. Would I need to convert the mp4 files to avi or should my dvd player be compatible with mp4 files. Any good software can assist with this?

Thanks in advance for sharing your collective knowledge :thumb2

Picasa will take care of the organisation aspect. It will trawl your pc and list everything by date or name as well as show you the content. It will also let you burn to disk or save to any other place including the web. Also a handy feature is it will let you create slideshows of your pics. DVD player playing MP4, some can some cant it depends on the player. Some players also require that you have a certain file structure before it will play. If you need to change the format then look at Handbrake or file format factory.

Thanks Marki, picsaweb looks perfect for what I want to do. I broke the habit of a lifetime and looked through my DVD manual and it is compatible with mp3 files, so I will need to convert my camcorder mp4's. Formatoz looks perfect for this. Once converted, they do need need to organised on the disk in a certain way but this will be easy to do.

Thanks agaain for your help

Be prepared for a long job on the conversions, depending on the spec of the pc your using it can take a fair while to do. For example on my 2.4 core 2 I get a 1-1 so 20 min video takes about 20 min but on my 3.3 i7 it takes about 10.
