I have some pictures on my PC from Belgium I have downloaded to my PC I have now found time to resize them at last

However the picture files are in tiff format??????


1 How did that happen ????
2 How do I change them to JPEG or another file format
(which format is the best to use)
3 I am using irfanview


I have also rename the photo at the end type in .jpeg
but this does not work, when I tryed to downlaod pictures to site and error message came up saying incorrect format

If you have the answer please keep it simple

Paint

Do you have the programe Paint on your computer, you should if running Windows, Open your TIFFs in paint do a safe as and select the JPEG option.

Don't know what version of Photoshop you have but....
you should be able to go...
File>> Save for Web
This will let you put the file into jpeg format and give you an option of file sizes to save to.
Before you save go to....
Image>>Image size.
In the pixel dimensons section size the widthe to around 750/800 pixels. the height will automatically change in response and keep the aspect ratio.
