After 4 months of waiting for test slots, failing my Mod 1 (brushed a cone on the hazard avoidance!) I have finally passed my Mod 2 and collect my 1200GS this Saturday. Can't wait!

Now, what to do with my Yamaha X Max 125? I want to sell it. It's a 2010 model, just 6 months old and has been a great way to commute whilst patiently waiting to pass my tests but now it has to go.

Any experience of Ebay vs Biketrader? What have peoples experiences been of selling used, and what was the best way to shift it in the end?

1. Pay over £12 here and become a subscriber.

2. Advertise it in the FS&W section.

No need to thank me.

Thanks (even though you asked me not to!). I am going to subscribe anyway, but didn't think here was the right place to advertise a scooter. Still, worth a try I guess.

Many of the posters here have teenage kids and would prefer to buy something from a fellow Tosser than from a random person advertising in the local paper.

I was highly amused earlier this week when a mate from Portsmouth collected his daughter's new 50cc scooter from a dealer 35 miles from his home. It took him nearly 2 hours to ride it home in the pissing rain! I didn't laugh, oh no.

Sounds reasonable. As you can see, I coughed up my £12 and am now (or at least will be on Saturday when I collect it!) an official Tosser.

I meant your GS :blast

I'm sure you wont get in too much trouble :)

Oops, thought you meant the scooter! Pictures on Saturday when I collect it!

It's a 2008 grey 1200GS (not the GSA). I bought it privately off a chap who owned it from new, and bought it originally from Vines in Coulsdon. I have contacted them and been in to check the history and they seem pretty decent chaps, so I guess I'll keep using them even though Park Lane are closer. It has the extended warranty, has been garaged and seems pretty straight.

It has all the toys (Varios, Premium, Dynamic etc) and is in great nick. I considered new, but as my first big bike, I am sure I will have a slow speed mishap at some point. This one's immaculate, and it will still hurt if I drop it, but at least I won't be risking a £13k investment.

If you're concerned about a drop, get some head protection. Bars work, but I purchased a set of the head guards as fitted to the GSA. Just scuffed one when I dropped mine at a standstill :augie

It has the BMW metal head protectors fitted. Was also considering crash bars, but can't find definitive answers on which will fit with the headcovers in place. Any idea? H&B or Touratech seem the favourite. The BMW version doesn't seem to protect much at all.

I had the HB ones on my 08GS but had the black plastic protectors, try doing a search you should be able to get all the info needed.

Keep your eye on the south east section for meets and rideouts, you will need a good sense of humour, some people on here like a wind up :toungincheek you will also pick up invaluable tips.

hope that helps
