Went to Pie in the Sky today.

This is a big meeting place for bikes on the 'old road' on the way North out of Sydney - 1200GS in the background - BMW dealer 10 kms away.
The 'old road' is one of the best roads in the world - IMO - yes including the Alps - for bike riding. About 40 miles of fast twisting curves - up and down mountains and hills.
This road has been replaced by a motorway / freeway - so isn't used by any traffic except local stuff.
Unfortunately - its now overpoliced at the weekend to the point of putting people off - which is the point. :(
However - during the week its a much better place :)

Suprise suprise they do. :) :D
No pork ....ozi beef.. not bad either .. but mainly about the bikes(suprise suprise ! am i repeating myself ? ) the company, and the view.

Moto martin ! i will keep my eye out for you there. i am a bit of a regular.

The 'old road' has been overpopulated with riders (and some drivers) using it as a race track... cops chasing people at over 250km/h .. :spitfire

Keep well away on the weekends when the twits are out ... it is a nice senic road with nice twistys .. taken sedatly and everthing is good. Taken well above the speed limit maybe exciting .. but it is a public road - two way traffic and you can find a truck comeing the otehr way .. with some sand on your line... :nono not a place to 'race' or even practice racing.

As ever, Frank is right on the money. The road surface is deteriorating in places, and it is a 'race place' for the power rangers of a weekend.
Pie in the Sky sell pies full of real meat. I recognised this as a good place the first time I went there ( 10 yrs ago) as it was mid week, lunch time, and there were blokes from the public utilities parked all over the place, all scoffing pies. They know where the value is !
I mostly get there on days during the week, a nice run to scuff the tyres up a bit.

However, beware the the truck from the quarry, 17 metres of semi-trailer carrying blocks of sandstone, and he is not too fussy about which side the the centre line he drives on. A mate is still in a backbrace after swerving into the scenery to miss him.

cheers -

How about a Pie on Putty Road instead?

Went for a ride on Saturday from Hornsby to Cesnock via F3, (dont like the OPH)there was a a great section from Cessnock to Broke and beyond to the Putty Road turn off. No traffic, fast sweepers and some nice scenery. Then left onto Puuty road towards Windsor.

The first section 40-50kms was fantastic, hardly any traffic (everyone was shopping for Fathers Day), nice and twisty for 15kms then opens up to some fast sweapers. It was truely one of the best surfaced roads in NSW (although that's not saying much) until you you get to "Putty". After that it was pretty bumpy all the way back to Colo River. It was bad on the ZZR so can only imagine what it would be like on a GSXR or Fireblade.

Dont get me started on the state of roads in and around sydney. sh1te! I understand why people drive 4 wheel drives.

Anyway was a great day out and not a copper in sight.
