I doff my hat to anyone who rides pillion on a GSA 1150. Doff to you.

Just been about 20 miles as a pillion, only the second time I've ever been on the back, and the sheer excruciating agony of burning thighs and locked pelvis, with groin strain thrown in for good measure, well I think everyone should try it once. Two six footers, with my arai peek pecking slimbo's lid at every gear change.

Anyone who takes a pillion on a regular basis should thank them every time they agree to get on...

Pillions we respect you.

Without ...

... being in any way sexist, 'most' pillions are female and therefore equipped with a hinge at the appropriate point, this i'm told alleviates some if not all of the discomfort you mention :augie

Good job she's off-line at the moment ...

So,
are you saying he is unhinged? :nenau

i find the trick is to pick a pillion that is physically suited - like mine, yours is petite and bijou and therefore admirably suited to the task.

That should go some way to getting you out of the sh*t when Herself does get back online.
:augie

All I'm saying is that my "Hips don't Lie" and they were screaming, "Get me off this damn bike's pillion seat, or lower the footpegs by a yard or two".

I think Slimbo had the footpegs raised especially for male passengers

Did he 'accidentally' get on the bike facing the wrong way:augie

:blastbusted!!!!;);):ymca;)

So that's why I was able to hold on to your whiskers?
Thought there was something strange about that.

I'm not sure I could stand having a man between my legs for more than 5 miles in future...just to let any of you bi-curious lot know.

Funny thing that, SWMBO hated my old R1150GS for just that very reason and she is only 5'4"

My wife is 5'8" and rode pillion for may thousands of miles on my 1150 Adventure, only modification was a couple of plates to move the rear pegs slightly down and forward, they were home made in the shed one morning out of some scrap alloy plate, I might even have templates at home.

The addition of the two adapter plates enabled us to ride up to 1000 mile per day :thumb2

I made similar from steel plate and apparently they have made a real difference to Mandy's comfort. Not sure about the 1K per day, but good enough for 6 or 7K per year. :thumb2

These were a necessity as she was getting over a broken knee at the time, interestingly she says the pillion seating position on the R1200R is perfect and without need for change yet she cannot do anywhere near the same distances these days.
