Pillion seat luggage rack - what luggage?

Does anyone have any recommendations of luggage that fits on this? Is it just for lashing soft luggage on or are there clip on options? I’m not a fan of top boxes and will be mostly solo, so wondering what options work with this,

No, unlike its predecessor, you can only tie stuff onto it. On the 1200/50 you could attach the top box to it.

The new one is quite useless, actually.

I was going to buy one as I have a 1300 on order, and when I took the bag that I keep my chain in off my 1250 I noticed severe impressions in the pillion seat. The chain has been kept in a bag on the pillion seat for a couple of years.

I found that entry on BMW Europe and nearly got caught out by it saying €114.14 with free shipping. That makes it look cheaper than UK price of £135, but they want over £20 for shipping.

I use a BMW waterproof soft bag on the back seat. I cut slots in the plastic where the panniers are supposed to hook onto so straps can be threaded through. Obviously no good if you use BMW panniers.

Check out Motopapa88 on YouTube. He's fitted a SWMotech tank ring to his which then opens up their who tank bag range. Something which I'm going to do myself.

I had the BMW plate on for a while, and planned to mount the same tank bag to it. However, I am leery about the strength of the plastic top of the plate.

I went with a Cymarc box. Lockable, and will not come off….
