Not a 1300 owner, is this really a thing on the new GS?

No, the seat is designed to be moved between two positions without needing the key like you did on the old model
A feature which is not exactly game changing but then I wouldn't pay to stop it working

If you look at the touratech catalogue there are plenty of bolt on solutions to problems that required some creative reasoning to invent
