Well, probably.
I received a call from Pat Keenan of Mobitec in the UK; a senior BMW mechanic now operating independently.
He knows that I've had pinking problems so wanted to alert me to the discovery on one of his client bikes that had pinking problems, that the issue was resolved by replacing the crankshaft hall sensors.
Anyone with some working knowledge of the engine will know that there are 2 sensors mounted on a plate - one identifies TDC and the other identifies engine speed. Apparently these senors were tested and the engine speed sensor was found to be faulty.
Pat had to struggle with BMW to get them to inspect and remedy, but if you are having similar problems he may have broken some new ground that you can use to persuade your dealer to investigate the problem.
I hope this is of help.
