Place tosaty Portugal/Spain border area

Myself and Grandad Bilco are of to spain next week and need to find a place to rest our beautiful bodies somewhere halfway up the Portugal Spanish border, any recommendations?

Try Elvas, lovely old Moorish town with Roman origins. There is a Pension in the old city but I can't remember the name; we found it by asking at tourist info which is close to the town square and cathedral. It was cheap as chips and had air con. Due to the narrow alleyways cars and bikes are parked in car parks inside the old city walls. Just a couple of minutes walk from the Pension. It is an old, charming and interesting place and it is just west of Badajoz.

Tah, i wanted to go to Badajoz due to it's peninsula war history...

Ive stopped here a few times and love it. A modern hotel, fairly cheap, in a good location with free garage parking and a old town a 10 minute walk away. Some very good roads nearby too.
