Places to see, road to ride this weekend

Hi Guys,
I am hopefully heading down to Padstow for the weekend on the bike for a few days camping with my wife and wondered what you might suggest to see and do? I have been to Padstow and the surrounding area before (many times as a child and a few more recently) so know Tintagel and Boscastle well and love them both, but wondered if there were any other places within easy reach of Padstow - especially if it involves a decent road

Hi David
I suggest you arm yourself with OS sheets 200 and 190 in the 1:50 000 Landranger Series, and check out the smallest yellow roads that hug the North coast. A good route to take is the B3314 North out of Wadebridge turn left after crossing Gut Bridge then follow those little roads through Rock,Polzeath,Portquin,Port Issac(of BBC Doc Martin fame), Westdowns, Trebarwith, Trebarwith Strand,(great beach if the tides out,great views at any time) out though Treknow to Tintagel, then follow the B3263 through Boscastle turning left after a couple of miles to Crackington Haven. After Crackington follow the road out towards Wainhouse Corner but turn left to Coxford and follow the lanes out along the cliff past Millook to Widemouth Bay. If you get that far drop down into Bude turn left immediately after crossing the canal bridge between the bollards onto the wharf and visit the cafe or Falcon Hotel opposite for lunch. Also there are some great roads out across Bodmin Moor, could take you on a little tour if you like, let me know.
The above route is one I used on a Devon and Cornwall rideout earlier this year check out the threads for pics.

Thanks for that - wouldn't happen to have a route planned in Mapsource would you That does sound ideal because we would like to go back to Boscastle, as the last we went was a few weeks before the big flood and I hope they have recovered. Ending is Bude is also a good plan because that is where my sister lives, (I have been to the Falcon a few times) so I could surprise her.

Thanks for the offer of the tour, but as you mention the weather is pretty changeable so we only have loose plans right now dependant on the conditions, so I don't want you to make plans around us that might change.

Ending is Bude is also a good plan because that is where my sister lives, (I have been to the Falcon a few times) so I could surprise her.

Afraid I don't have it on Mapsourse, but I think Devon saved the route to his GPS when we did that route in the spring, you could try PMing him.

I have the roads you took us down saved from my Zumo, they are fantastic roads, but I wouldn't have a clue how to send the file: if anyone could tell me how to send the saved log I will happily email them on.
