Hi All, planning a trip to Norway next year , probably early June. I've read a few of the previous threads about ferries etc on the west coast route up. We will be travelling on ferry across to Dunkirk and up through to Hamburg/Copenhagen and across over the "Bridge" and up the coast to Oslo - staying 80 miles west of Olso for 3/4 days before returning back.

We are looking at doing this in 2 weeks - staying in Air BNB's - travelling light and much too old for that camping lark!

Appreciate any thoughts./options/experiences of doing this trip. Its be on my bucket list since i got my GS so really looking forward to it!

I guess you’ve got a reason to go so far for only 3 or 4 days, I wouldn’t be too hung up on the bridge as it is just a bridge (that was my take on it anyway), we did it in a van and the cost to get into Norway or Sweden from Germany was roughly the same whichever way we went so assuming this is the case with a bike my advice would be to take the best bike route which might not be a long motorway slog from Hamburg to Oslo.

If you’ve got time Gothenburg, Ribe (Denmark) and Delft (NL) are well worth a visit.

I think there is another thread on Norway which gives plenty of advice and thoughts ?

Thanks, I had a look for another post but couldn't find it, probably my poor site navigation skills! If anyone can post a link to this thread I'd appreciate it

The magnifying glass is the search function...type in Norway...and the below is about 3rd on the list

Unless you are “ Into “ cities - I would give Hamburg a miss , the roads around it make the M25 look like a back street .

Agreed. I’d cross the Elbe by ferry and stay in the lovely Gluckstadt

We met in Hamburg when my lad and I toured Norway in 2023. It’s a great place to visit although the roadworks were a bit of a pain in the arse. They weren’t too bad though and some great bars and restaurants. I certainly would visit again as it’s very handy for the Kiel- Oslo colorline ferry. This ferry is a great way to Norway.

If the plan is to stay at one place and do daily rides, perhaps this may be of interest:

This is a hotel that is very keen on motorists, cars and motorcycles alike.
