I've made a couple of DVD's that play fine on my dvd player & television.
However they won't run on my friends .
Mines a bog standard English version only or what ever not all regions like some I believe.
Is it possibly the type of Disc rather than the programme used to burn it (Sonic)
Cheers for any advice.

might be type of disc or your player plays more formats types and you've burned something other than a standard DVD

better if you knew the model of your mates player and yours

Did you Finalize or make Compatible

Unlike CDs, when you have finished burning a DVD, you need to Finalize it to make it readable by DVD players other than the one it was created on. This is sometimes known as 'Make Compatible'. Did you do this with the DVDs you craeted?

it can also be fault buffering if the DVD is an older model try to drop the burn rate down which in effect make the burn heavier so the control track info is more prominant on the disc.

only a suggestion PS got to dash cold beer getting warm.

To be honest I never saw that option but it was eddited & burned on my pc & works fine on mine & a couple of others I tried.
now maybe lo IQ has a point with it being an older machine which indeed it is.
cheers guys

many older domestic dvd players just do not play dvd-rs. i used to have one, a sony, never designed to read dye based discs, only pressings.

funnily enough, i noticed by accident, some years after i first bought it, that some of the better and more modern cd-r discs actually would work. there is quite a variation in performance between dvd/cdr-r blanks.

i think all you need to know about the different makes is on this site somewhere. check out the "more info" buttons on the various products.
