Hi MOnty,
Glad you feel the same as I. I suggested the same some months ago and received some flack.
For those uninformed here are some facts about Essex.
We have the oldest recorded town - Colchester.
We have the gate way to the world. -Stansted Airport.
We have Dedham famous for Constable paintings.
We have a large international port - Harwich.
We have delightful countryside in the north of the county.
We have one of the largest weekday evening bike meets- Gt Bently Green (Weds). Finchingfield also attracts hundreds of bikers at weekends.
We have one of the largest shopping complexes - Thurrock.
We have a long coastline with many tidal rivers - Thames, Crouch, Roach, Blackwater, Colne, Stour(boundry between Suffolk).
Bird sanctuaries, historic houses, stately homes etc etc.
Go on - Moderator - add Essex to the title of East Anglia.
Safe riding to your all.
Mike
That's all very well, apart from being almost mind-numbingly boring, but let's just look at what you've got to offer...
Who cares how old Colchester is? - tell us how many bike shops & decent pubs it has
Stansted is the gateway to the world??? I've been there and I ended up in Guernsey, anyway I prefer to use the Tunnel
Dedham? Sounds 'ded' (ahem

) boring!
Harwich is a large international port? Big deal. Tell us how cheap the ferries are, how many bike shops & decent pubs it has
Delightful countryside in the north of the county? Oh, southern Suffolk???
Gt Bently Green? Mid-week is fine for locals but what's it like at the weekend???
Finchingfield? Give you that, not a bad little place to watch bikes on a Sunday

...though the price of a cup of tea is outrageous
Thurrock????
Coastline, rivers, bird sanctuaries, historic houses, stately homes...? We've already got some of those
I still vote no
