I went to replace my front brake lever with an adjustable one. Took the existing one out & realised it was not a simple swop.
I then sprayed WD40 into where the plunger goes into the gaiter. (This might have been a very stupid thing to have done!!) Put the existing leaver back in the rubber gaiter & put the bolt pivot through - reasembling.
I then went for a ride, however the rear light keeps on coming on as there is too much slack on the lever. I can see that there is a micro switch which as the lever moves towards the handle bars it dissengages - due to the play of the lever its engaging the switch as I drive along.
So.... have I lost a cap or somthing that goes in the gaiter & pushes the lever out that little bit more?
We go to Poland on Tuesday so time is somewhat pressuring us, so if I need to get a part Ill have to go via Manchester BMW.
I could off course do what I did when out riding to resolve it - bit of elastic around the brake lever to the handguard - short term measure but not something I really want to do all the way to Poland.
I know spraying it with WD40 may not have been the best thing to have done.....
Your knowledge of what should be in the gatter would be usefull & if its that slack does this indicate it needs bleeding (its just come back from a service so I wouldnt have thought so, hence why I'm blaming my 'stupid activity').
Hope you can help.
