Used the twinmax for the first time last night (Thanks MiGSel for the idiot guide)

Started...or should I say struggled to start without the fast idle up. Bike in the 900 rpm area. (1300 with idle up)

Once going the bike is alot smoother and a lot less vibes. No problem once up to 2 bars plus on the RID.

Advice on the start up challenge please. Have I got the idle speed too low, at 5 RID running at 1100rpm

Thanks in advance, Nick

You set the idle speed after setting the 2000,3000,4000 & 5000 rpm balance, with the two large brass slotted screws on the TB.

Adjust the left hand one ( the one with the Motronic on ) first to 1000 revs or so then balance the right side to 0 fine adjust to 1100 rpm at idle, I think its clockwise to increase speed.

Nick,

This may sound like a really daft question, but You have put the rubber bungs back on the tubes haven't you? A mate of mine balanced his throttle bodies and then complained about the tickover and low speed running; he had forgot to put the plugs back on.

Idle speed

Hi Commuter,
Probably everyone will disagree with this but the Twinmax is not as accurate as the slightly cheaper Carbtune, and no matter what anyone says the Twinmax (Calander) works by converting vacuum into a numerical reading using a diaphragm (just like a vacuum guage) just because it has abattery in it doesn't mean its electonic.

If your bike is an 1150 try these air by-pass (brass screw) settings- ONE AND A HALF turns out from a gentle full in and then you will probably find a furhter quarter turn out is all that is needed to give your engine a smooth idle of approx. 1200-1300 rpm.

Additionaly if you want you could remove the throttle bodies and check the throttle plate gaps (thats the clearance between the actual plate and the body) setting should be 0.002 inches (thousands of an inch). Warning if your bikes under warranty you will need to look at a further thread that I posted on this subject.

I'll get back with the site as it was on someone else's thread.
