I've just spent the last hour or so Googling and I think it's time to rely on a tried and trusted method; here!

Assuming the local BMW dealer is able to fix our bike we'll be heading fro France along the northern Spaninsh coast shortly.

We're way over schedule (about 3 weeks!) but can't miss a couple of nights in the Picos and, maybe, a couple of nights in the Pyrenees before heading for the D-Day area. We're currently in Braganca and our plan is to head for Arenas De Cabrales which is on the border of the Picos De Europa national park and spend 2 nights there - 1 night when we arrive, a day riding then move on the following day; there seem to be quite a few good roads in the area so I don't think we'll have any problem finding a circuit for our riding day but if you have an recommendations they'll be gratefully received.

The Pyrenees seem to be more of a problem as most if not all of the recommended roads are a lot further south that we really want to go. I realise we are going to have to go a little south but I'd like to stay as far north as we can.

The best place I've found so far is Jaca. Is there somewhere better or further north you'd recommend for a couple of nights that will give us some good rides in the area for a day of riding before we move on?

I've tried bestbikingroads.com but, to be honest, I don't find it that easy to use. What I'd like to see there is a map showing the routes which would allow me to click on the ones that seem nearest to where we're planning to go but all I seem to get is a map with lots of blobs on it and Ive no idea which is connected to which. To see where the routes are I have to click on each one and read about it which takes forever using this 3G dongle (it's highly likely that I'm missing something obvious of course).

Thanks.

...in the absence of any information to the contrary Jaca it was and we arrived here a couple of hours ago.

hangover in jaca

i once had an almighty hangover in a town called jaca, (the mother of all hangovers). i awoke in the morning and after about 2 hours i was able to lift my head off the bed to look around. To my horror i thought i was in jail , that is until i realised thet it was a disused army barracks that we were stayin in, the huts converted into a hostel

Jaca has a good road out, that is as I remember it....
I was going to say "Doesn't that depend on which way you're going?" but we came in from the west yesterday and went out to the east for a ride today and they were both great roads. We're leaving via the north road tomorrow which is 'green' so should be good so that'll just leave the southern side to try next time.

Going south out of Jaca, towards Montana (I believe) is a very boring road, North or East are defiantely the best ones.

If you get the chance, head east out of Jaca on the N260. At Sarvise, turn left onto the Hu-631, then loop around the Gorge of Gallisue (it's a one way road)! It's stunning!

Thanks but unfortunately we're now in Les Sables d'Olonne. I'll file that one for next time (we did ride out on the N260 though - excellent road).
