I'm looking to replace the tyres on my 2008 model F650GS.

Does anyone run Avon Distanzia's....?

And what do you think of them.? A lot of the MT350 riders like them but wonder how they are on a BMW.

If you don't recommend them what do you like.?

I don't "off-road" but if I see a track that looks like it goes somewhere I'll probably have a go at it.

But I do like to ride at speed and I do like twisty roads, and as it's always wet up here grip is paramount. I've no interest in mileage - no point in having tyres that'll do 10,000 miles if the grip is shite and you fall off after 500 miles...... :D

I've never known anyone who uses them on a wee GS but I have an Irish friend in the San Francisco Bay Area who swears by them and fits nothing else to all the 1200's that he's had.

Jack rides like a demon...."When udder people see da cops at da side of da road, dey slow down but I go like fook cos I know dey're busy doing something else..." I'm not slow but I have to work very hard to keep in touch with him on the Bay Area's goat tracks.

However, if wet grip is paramount, then it has to be Pilot Road 3 - http://www.michelinmotorcycle.com/index.cfm?event=pilotroad3trial

Mmmmm car,nt comment about em on a f650...but did about 4k on a set fitted to a Africa twin I bought last year....to say they were ferking scary in the wet is a understatement....slightest sign of a damp road ..

Never had any trouble with Tourance on previous GS,s......wife has em on her 650 and takes a bit o catching :D

A pal of mine has been running Distanzias on his old 650GS Dakar for a few years. The bike is about 10 years old and covered nearly 50,000mls, he's used various types and brands but seems to favour the Avons over the last three tyre changes.
This bike is one of seven that he owns, but it is the one he uses most and all year round. He tours, commutes and goes greenlaning on it. Last summer he took it with us to the Alps and Dolomites.
He reckons they're pretty good tyres for the money and he hasn't complained about grip levels, he rides at a fair old lick on it even in the wet. I'm unsure about the mileage he gets from a set.
