Good evening,

I have had my 2011 GSA from new, it has only completed 8000miles and is running perfectly. I recently bought a 2005 Aprilia RSV 1000 Factory as a second bike and have removed the PC3 and noisy pipes to restore it to original condition.

A recent thread about accelerator modules set me thinking, ' I wonder if the PC3 would work on my GSA?'. The PC3 plugs that intercept the 2 fuel injectors appear to be identical to the ones on the GSA and there are only 2 other wires, one an earth to the battery and the other to the throttle position sensor.

Your thoughts please.:thumb2

Ditch the PC and take both bikes straight down to Hilltop - the guy is a legend ...

The guy may be a legend but that wasn't the question:augie

I run a PC3 on my GSA and it's a brilliant piece of kit. I had it dyno'd to suit my riding style and it transformed the bike IMHO. I like smooth low down power and I now have it is spades so I'm a very happy chap with my PC3. You can get downloadable maps but I think it's worth the time on the dyno to get it right for you.

Double check that it fits the Twin Cam (which I presume yours is) because you may need a PC5 but if it does stick it on and see how you go:thumb

I would say - err on the side of caution, and do some more research online.

Do a few google searches for swapability between bikes, and get as much information as you think is out there.

Also - install a map for the R1200GS engine that you have.

My concern would be that first press of the starter button, and would still be ready to hit the kill-switch.

Perhaps the safest choice would be to sell the PowerCommander and get a remap at Hilltop as suggested elsewhere. You may get £150 for your old PC?

As long as boths bikes injectors are the same impedance (they could be either low or high), power commander will work. It's all about the plugs.
I ran my zx6rr 03 on zx10r 06 pcIII and now running pcV off gsxr1000 with autotune on 04 zx6rr.
The only note: guy doing dyno service told, that the maps must be customized, since 0 value for one bike not exactly can be 0 for another. Can't comment that.

Good Evening, an update for you.

Thank you for your responses. I decided to try fitting the PC3 (usb) to my 2011 Twin Cam GSA. Here is how I got on:-

Firstly, I tried fitting it using Aprilia map. Most difficult part was isolating a feed from the TPR which took a little doing. Result, bike
would not start. Felt like it wanted to start but even with throttle opened to various positions, bike would not start. Removed PC3,
started first time and ran fine.

Secondly, tried to download BMW 1200 GS map to PC3. Kept failing ( cant remember the error code). In the end, over wrote the
BMW 1200GS map settings manaully onto the Aprilia settings on the PC3 and saved it. It did save properly but when refitted to bike, again
would not start. Again, started first time when PC3 removed.

Conclusion -with my level of expertise, a PC3 will not work on a 1200GS Twin Cam.

During the procedure, I noticed the Aprilia map has only one map for both cylinders whereas a GS has a left cylinder map and a separate one
for the right cylinder (and some of the values are quite significantly different).

So, my options are now:-

1/ Leave it as it is, I am quite happy with the engine as it is
2/Fork out nearly £300 on a PC 5 which I will be able to partially re coup if I sell the bike
3/Go for a £350 remap by Hilltop which I will not be able to re coup.

I am currently minded towards option 1:aidan

Do you have an Odyssey battery fitted?

If so - try starting the engine with a different battery fitted, or another in parallel. In some cases, the Odyssey's characteristics - drop the voltage below the threshold for the PC3 operating.
