Just signed up to the extended warranty. Wile I was on the phone I asked them a couple of questions that got answered as I thought they would of been.

1, Could I have the bike serviced by a none BMW mechanic?

Answer was, yes provided they are up to the industry standards and the services are in accordance with the scedual.

2, Can I fit a power Commander to a bike covered by the warranty?

Answer, no, fitting it would invalidate the warranty. This answer took a couple of days as the call centre person had to ask the under-righters.

Anyone know a good BMW independent specialist in Birmingham?

To be expected, if you were the underwriter would you warrant a bike that had been modified?

yet they will give a warranty on used bikes sold via the dealer network fitted with non standard silencers and exhausts

I can totally understand their stance on the power commander. The programer of that unit only has to make mistake and it's ta-da to the engine.
