I've recently acquired a 2009 1200gs, 1st service out the way and on 750 miles -just started to increase the revs and noticed a bit of a flat spot between 5-6k when riding hard. Has anyone else noticed this? What is the solution if any? would a power commander sort it and if so would there be any drawbacks?

Appreciate ur input:thumb

The flat spot has always been there from the first '04 bikes. The first part of the solution is the headers - a nice set of Remus headers works wonders.

Sorry didn't know there were different sections, just been wacking em in any old how - thanks for that!

Just posted this question somewhere else - no doubt in the wrong place - drrrrrr - got an Akro end can and was just asking about the Y piece and whether this would improve it - or even adding a power commander - so any extra HP, sound or smooth out would be nice.

Dont worry, I've moved both threads over here to the 1200 section for you. It takes a while to work your way around the site ... there's alot to get through here. The sites bigger than you think.

Keep posting, you'll find your way around :)

Don't like powercomanders but had really good results in the past with remus powerizers, put one on my buell and the difference was incredible,no farting with base maps or dyno's,true plug and play, it got readings from tps,air flow and lamda's and altered fueling to suit,so perfect fueling at sea level and at any height above, bikes tend to be lean at the range they're tested for emmissions this sorted it out.

I have just installed a power commander to my 2006 GS (25k) along with a Keihan down pipe (no cat) and K&N.
The result is fantastic and it has smoothed out low speed running no end along with better pick up and just feels like a much more refined and responsive bike.
I wish I had done this much earlier.
I know the 2008 is slightly different but I'm sure it will give a great and worthwhile improvement.
Go for it
If you need any info talk to Richard at Dynajet 01995 600500
Very helpful guy

Jeez you've just reached 750 miles and already you want to stuff a Power Crapmonger into your EFI system?

Forget about it mate and ride the bike.

At least let the engine loosen up a bit first.

A few thousand miles to loosen up and a set of Remus headers will make a significant difference. If after that you are still not happy then think about alternatives, but I think you are looking at diminishing returns in terms of bigger bangs for your buck.
