Got a Chilli heated vest, i want to mount a power socket on 1150 rather than plug it straight into the one on the bike. Has anyone worked out the best place to mount one?
(somewhere up near the handlebars looks the best site....) That way the chilli control unit can be velcro'ed to the top of the clutch master cylinder.

Thanks Bryn

Why not hard-wire the power controller into the bike and route the output socket under the tank to somewhere down around your goolies?

Then shorten the curly lead on your vest and plug it in when you've sat on it.

Look on the beak mount, just left of the BMW tank badge. The little black thing is the power socket. Very easy to mount there.

1150 - Ralpy and I put a John Deere tractor socket on our bikes between the petrol tank and the instrument console. Easy install (although you do need to remove the tank) taking no more than 30 minutes.

Search the forum for John Deere and you'll find the part numbers + you will need to buy an inline fuse from Maplin / Halfords or similar.

Mike

Aux Power Socket

Mount it on the beak (LHS)

Socket - part no MC61.13.1.391.630 £15.24
Power lead GS - part no MC61.13.2.316.114 £8.05

Power lead has 3 ends. One plugs into the existing feed for the OE socket, one into the back of the OE socket and the other into the new socket. Piece of cake, fitted one today to power GPS system.

It's mounted on the mirror stalk using a couple of rubber-lined P-clips, a small bit of acrylic sheet and some velcro.

The whole lot is hard wired with the socket emerging between the saddle and the tank.
