Hi there, sorry for the daft question, but where is the easiest point to pick up a power supply, preferably ignition live for a handle bar mounted GPS, many thanks.
1200GS models either have a CANBUS socket available near the headstock or behind the oil radiator below the intrumnets (which is where it was on mine)
There is a lead available from some BMW dealers that can be plugged directly into this socket which ends in bare wares for connection to devices, but you will find some dealers claim the part does not exist.
As a second (more expensive but neater) option Touratech do some leads for certain makes of GPS
I used the headstock socket for my GPS but did not bother with a plug. Just tin about 5 mm of the ends of the gps wires to make them stiff and they will push into the contacts in the socket. Then jam the blanking plate back on the socket with the wire ends to one side and cover with insulating tape. Did mine three years ago and works perfectly.
