Going for a long weekend at the end of the month. What's to see/do ?

As above, local food good too.

Book a 2 or 3hr walking tour, I don't usually enjoy these, but with the many architectural styles in the city, it was very interesting.

Sex Machines Museum, was good for a laugh:D

When I went we were constantly bothered by touts asking us if we wanted to F*** midgets.

Vey nice by day and delicously seedy by night.

St Cyrils church. The vault is where the Czech partisans who killed Heydreich took refuge.

Now turned into a small museum

Worth a look

Did you resist the temptation:augie

Great city and Rasher has it about right. Fantastic in the day with plenty to see and but do expect a bit of sex sales at night and try and avoid the stag groups!!

There are lots of great vantage points. The tower at the south end of the George Bridge can be climbed, as can the big church spire on the north side of the river, the thing that looks like a TV mast and the Old Town Clock tower.

Great restaurant under the old town square. Stand facing the Astronomical Clock, turn through 180 degrees and you'll see a staricase leading downwards into the square. Follow it down and you'll find a large stone walled room with a huge fire and a hog on a spit. Excellent local food.

:nod:thumb2 very interesting place and well worth a visit. Also not far from the dancing buildings, another interesting piece of architecture.

Best view in Prague - must see

Its right in the old town square directly opposite the clock, brilliant location, great atmosphere, and even if you don't stay there you must make a point of going up for a drink or a meal on the roof terrace, the view from there is absolutely stunning day or night, its the best view in Prague, I guarantee it :thumb2

What to do in Prague

Do not have a meal outdoors in the Astronomical square. You will be stitched if you do. (A lot Dearer then London in a cheap city)
Do go to the miniature Eiffel tower above the town. Take the Funicular railway. Do not pay to go up the tower. Go instead to the free exhibition in the basement. Be sure to take a camera, and be prepared to be sick laughing.

Concerts: There are around 8 concerts a day held in the old churches. Get a flier, and just go. Inexpensive. Each concert lasts around an hour. Churches are beautiful, and you will get to hear some brilliant professionals playing everything from Mozart to Bach, with lots in between. I normally manage 2 per day.
There are 2 opera houses in the city, and I usually squeeze in at least one opera per trip. Last time it was Don Giovanni. Bit dark for my tastes, but brilliantly performed.

Places to visit. Theresienstadt concentration camp is around 60km from Prague. Well worth a pilgrimage. Be sure to get a guide.

Do not take a boat trip. They are horrible.

Jewish tour of the Old town.
Be sure to visit the Pinko & Spanish Synagogues.
The Pinko is now a most moving memorial to the Holocaust, and, whilst it portrays none of the dreadful things which happened, it is also so sad it is beyond words.
The Spanish synagogue is beautiful beyond words.
If you do decide to visit the Synagogues, go early in the day, and not on a Friday. the ticket seller for the tour is surly and rude, just ignore it.

I agree with everything else already posted.

Regards Myke
