Some time ago I asked on this forum whether there were any plans by BMW to produce a more powerfull F 650 Gs. The general feeling at that point was no. However several posters indicated an interest in such a machine as an alternative to the boxer engined Gs's. Well it looks as though BMW have changed their mind. In this weeks MCN page 17 the BM spokesman cofirms that the 800 lump in the new S and ST, is due to make it's way into a Gs as well as a naked bike. Now if its lighter than my 1200 and has a lower seat option could be an interesting proposition.

There is also rumour of a new more powerfull single. Bike should become a more serious offroad bike along the HP2. Should be around 150 kg dry weight with a supposed 60 horses or so from the Rotax mill.

Can't wait for the first spy shots...

The 1200 is a bit too tall and heavy for me too. An 800 powered GS would probably be a great option - as long as it has a lowish seat height.

the money i had saved for a new dakar will stay where it is until the 800gs is announced, it sounds like the perfect compromise between the 650 dakar and the 1200 boxer. :thumb i would guess it will not see the light of day until at least a year has gone by after the new 800,s have been out.

Aaaaaargh a new bike that is better than the Dakar
lighter than the 1150
What wil I do!!!!
Can I put a deposit down now???

in todays mcn it has been confirmed by bmw that there will be an f800gs due for release in 2007 :D i just hope that the photoshopped mcn pic is not what it will look like, they say it will have chain drive, as the belt would not be up to dealing with mud and dirt, cool. i hope that they will keep the single sided swingarm though,. i just found my next bike :thumb
ps... the article ends by saying that it will be shown at this years intermot show in cologne in october.
