Hi

I am thinking of trading in 2009 11,000 miles 800GS for the big brother but not the biggest brother [GSA]. I will of course test ride both but wondered whether to Mr Average who does no maintance, will probably not adjust any adjustables but will ocaasionally play with the on-board computer whether the "improvements" are worth the extra money?

One aspect which could influence choice could [of course will be] money i.e. second hand without warranty against almost new with warranty. Purchase will be made with BMW select finance which could also on paper appear to favour new:monthyl payments small but you don't own it after 3 years:blast!

But setting money aside would I really notice any difference?:nenau

Thanks for any comments.

I think there's a noticeable difference, the DOHC is smoother with more grunt :thumb2

It depends on you. Try both the 2009 and 2010 and see for yourself. The 2009 engine was good, however the 2010 bike has more power and is faster reving, it's smoother and makes a better noise. Most importantly the gearbox is a lot better on the 2010. Financially only you can decide if the difference is worth it. A few tips for keeping it nice: Fit a fender extender (Exhaust will thank you), If you ride in groups think about fork protectors (chipped mine riding in Belgium)

Enjoy!:)

All very good points :thumb2

Our annual tours of the Ardennes are progressive affairs, which may involve tight squad formations, all done in "The best possible taste." However, I feel I must point out that the 2008 GS forks didn't chip in the least doing the same trip the year before, so I think it was a manufacturing defect on my 2010 forks that the factory failed to spot..... :blagblah
