Pretty but R they Functional?

Got the BMW Aluminium cases and gee they look nice. Opened left pannier this morning (bike on sidestand) and a nice little pool of water. Same with the topbox.

Also note the lid needs a retaining strap. Will have to work out.

Is this another case of BMW following style to the detriment of functionality?

Does any one else summer from water seep?

Also hand guards look good and were good on my first play in the rain but this morning nice pool of water in one. Should I drill a drain hole?

Leaky left box

I've got the plastic BMW cases, and my left hand case leaks slightly if left on the sidestand in heavy rain.

It's very minor (but bloody annoying). It only happens on the side stand - I've ridden for hours in heavy rain, and nothing gets in.

I think the water is finding it's way in through the lock.

SOLUTION: bin-bags!

I would be knocking on Mr BMW's door and demanding a replacement.
