My H.P. printer/scanner has just gone t**s up..........2nd one in twenty months........Suspect little fingers.......

Any recommendations for a new one?.......simple home use......the simpler/basic, the better.

Cheers....:)

In the last 5 years, I've had 2 HP printers and 1 PSC......all of them failed prematurely plus, the HP software was hopelessly bulky and interfered with some other progs.

My personal favourites since then have been Epson and currently a Canon Pixma, though they're only printers since I have a canon scanner too.

there are very few true manufacturers of printers, most are manufactured under license and badged, - even HP's.

General advice is that lowest initial cost will be highest cost to run, as printer ink is one of the most valuable liquid commodities in the world. Printers are often sold for less than cost so as to hook you in.

True up to a point Ian, but Epson (made by the Seiko Corporation) are generally good all round, cheap to buy and cheap to run. Very cheap to run if you use generic cartridges, I presently pay a £1 a cartridge having only paid £60 for the printer about 18months or so ago. :)
