Help please

the pc has decided not to allow printing (windows XP pro SP2) and does not show the printer as a piece of hardware, if I try to add a printer it tells me "the print spooler service is not running"

beats me and any help much apreciated

done the usual cable/printer checks etc

Try right clicking on the my computer icon and select manage. from there, you have 3 +'s on the left pane. click the bottom one (services and applications from memory) and select the services option that appears.

Scroll down the right pane till you find the print spooler and see if it's started, if it isn't right click on it and select start. if it is set to disabled, you will need to double click on it and change it to start automatically first.

Hope that helps..

Steve

Thanks for that - unfortunately it was all ok, so still no joy..................any other takers?

I have a certain 100% solution. Go to the Apple home page . Go to the shop menu. Highlight one of their excellent laptops or imacs and proceed to checkout.
Problem ......... and all future problems solved!
It just works!

mmmmmmmmmm Apples................

not its an epson

good advice though - buy a new one!

Try going to:-
Start / Settings / Control panel / Administrative tools / Services and check that the print spooler service is running. It should be set to Automatic so it starts when your computer starts.

Good luck! :type

Sorry just reread the threads above and realised that had been suggested already! :blast
Have you tried downloading the latest drivers from Epson's website?

Have you done a recent virus / spyware scan?
I'm seem to remember a virus thingy that was around at some point that caused this sort of problem
