Guys, this Luddite needs a bit of help please,:nenau

I seem to have a problem sending routes to store on my SD memory card in my 660 ( G drive ) when I send a few routes over to the memory card and then switch the 660 back on, in my Data it only shows about 2 or 3 routes even though I may have sent 6 or 7?

I'm trying to build up a library of routes on the memory card but just can't seem to get it to store more than 2 or 3?, its set up correctly - ie it shows "G" drive > Garmin > gpx folder, my mates is set up the same and works fine??

Could the problem with my Garmin be a simple as the memory card is almost full and only has enough spare capacity to hold an extra 2 or 3 routes, then when I send extra ones it overwrites the existing ones if you see what I mean?

I know that when I did the update to 2014.10 it needed extra space on the memory card to write the maps to so maybe its almost full?

It has an 8gb card, how can I check the free space on the memory card?

Cheers,

Poucher

Plug the 660 into your PC, wait until it is found, usually only takes a few seconds
then look at the drives (on my system it's found under "my computer") click on the one for the card and look at "properties" that should show how much memory is available and how much is being used.

Thanks John,

I'll have a look tonight and see what the score is.

Personally I never use the sd card for sending routes, just send to the device.
try disconnecting from pc, replacing battery cover etc and then reconnect to pc , this will prevent you overwriting any previous data youve sent.
Somebody will be along soon with a better fix no doubt but the above is my trusted method. :hide

personally, i always send routes to the SD card. now.

having had a circular route corrupt itself shortly (50M) from setting off, i was able to re-import it to the zumo and carry on.

The problem with sending routes to the unit itself is that it will only hold a maximum of 20 routes, my intention was to add routes as I do them to my SD card in the unit and build up a library of all my routes, so that its easier to share the routes with mates whilst your out on the road if they are talking about going somewhere in the future.

Hence my frustration when the bleedin thing won't let me store more than 2 or 3 on the SD card, I suspect the memory card is full but haven't had time to check yet, just wondered if anyone else had ever had the same problem

Might be easier to export them from Basecamp and email them to your mates, rather than clog up the 660 and SD card with data. It was not really designed to be a mass storage device and might struggle to cope with the additional data you are trying to add

The 660 will recalculate any route according to the preferences in that unit. Therefore if you share routes with friends you need to get them to set their preferences to match yours. Here I set up guest devices before I download routes and find that a lot of people have no idea how to do this themselves.

or just put sufficient vias/waypoints into the route that it can't be affected by any preferences set on the unit.

I experienced this before - I think what it does is send the routes you have in your current Mapsource/Basecamp file to the Unit and overwrites anything that is there already. It bascially creates a couple of files on there, but replaces anything that is there. If you want to send say 10 or 20 routes you need to put them in the same Mapsource/Basecamp file and send them in one go rather than separately. Annoyingly this is also what it does when transferring map tiles to the unit/SD card.
