Problems opening a MSDOS file in Windows XP

This is driving me bonkers!

I've received what is basically an MSDOS file via email to my PC running on XP.

The file arrived as a zipped file and, following the instructions from the author, I chose 'save file to disk', changed the name to 'PROP.EXE', sent it to desktop, chose 'open full screen' and 'close on exit' in the options menu - all as instructed.

The file logo appears on my desktop, but when I try to open it I just get a black screen for a couple of seconds then the screen just reverts to the normal start menu - any ideas :nenau

(It's a boat propeller calculation program).
Thanks,
Steve

Copy the file to your "My Documents"

Select Start/Run and where it says "Open" type in

CMD

and click ok

You should get a Command Prompt window and by default be in your profile base folder.

Type

CD "My Documents"

and Enter

then try running

PROP.EXE

then Enter

What happens?
