Hi all

I hope someone can help

i have a powered quest ram mount and i have wired it up to my Ducati Monster and my KTM 400 EXC. Its wired from the battery with a 2 amp fuse.

I have it connected to the battery with a two pin connector so i can un plug it easly

The problem is when i connect the quest to the bike via the ram mount its flicking in and out of power turning its self on and off all the time.

When i don'thave it plugged into the battery the quest and voice works perfectly no vibration problems - i'm off to morocco this year and need to have the quest powered to the bike as i wont be able to charge it in the evenings.

What do you think the problem is?

Also when the quest is turned off it has that charging battery symbol on the screen
Thank you

I'd guess it's not making a good connection to the power connector in the cradle. Are you sure the quest is clipped in properly?
Also, it might be worth altering the settings on the quest so that it remains on even when external power is lost. It sounds like your getting power most of the time, but vibration might be causing momentary loss of external power.

i Yes its clipped in properly - and its set to stay on but the back light keeps comming on and off so when i'm roiding in the dark its a realy pain.

Its driving me mad.

Julie, I am thinking the same lines as Nick, can you give us some clues

You say .. have a powered quest ram mount and i have wired it up to my Ducati Monster and my KTM 400 EXC. Its wired from the battery with a 2 amp fuse ... Is this RAM handlebar mount plus the Garmin power cradle kit (010-10610-00) or is it RAM handlebar mount plus RAM-HOL- GA15 cradle plus QPAC as the power source ?. Using either the Garmin power cable (bare wire end) or the QPAC01 unit, both inline fuseholders have 1.5A fuses fitted.

This is my set up - i'll check the part numbers tonight..

julie,

Just spotted the post. You have a RAM-B-149 set up with GA15 cradle and I guess QPAC01 which has your inline connector set added. I assume the yellow inline fuse in the other wired section ? and you have used a 2 amp fuse.

IMV, its either poor connection from the white plastic connector set .. and/or .. the QPAC circuit fuse has blown due to using a higher rated fuse (QPAC has 1.5amp supplied and fitted). If this is the case, then I suggest QPAC goes to gpsw Vquickly.

check out the ram uk add at the top of the page, ring the number there and you'll hopefully find the very helpfull guy i spoke to earlier today.

Chances are he'll already know a bit about your problem ;)

It's not just a RAM problem......I have the same thing with my Tourabollox 'nosiryoucan'thavelostyourquestzatisimpossible' mount....I don't think anyone's come up with a long term satisfactory solution to the silly brass nipple connectors on the back of the Quest yet. :nono
