hi christian,

i went to a sight-seeing-tour at the berlin factory in oktober. the tourguide told us that.

the 1200gs has to be at the dealers in germany in the middle of march (i don´t remember exactly the day). therefore they need a couple of bikes then.

Have you got any details of the factory tour e.g how to book, where to go etc... Also is it any good ?
Just thinking it would be good to pop in the next time I'm passing on a holiday

Cheers

Factory Tour....

The factory is at Spandau, to the west of Berlin.

Tours cannot be booked direct with the factory.

You need to book, as a group, with BMW Clubs Europa, who co-ordinate all such visits.....and it will be at their convenience, not yours!

I tried to book to coincide with a German tour I was doing 4 years ago and was told to 'get in the queue' and await further instructions.

I was given a visit date some 3 months after I was in Germany....along with a group of German Club members I didn't know....

I was keen to go, so I flew back there for the visit.....

Was it worth it?

I`ve been thinking of putting myself out and going as well. I went to the Munich museum this year and they told me it was quite difficult to get on the tour.

Coopers

When I was in Coopers they also told me no more 1150GS'ers were being made due the fact a bike that has never been made or designed ahem 1200GS was taking the production line over over.

Interesting.

I thought so..............the museum in Munich is great & changes content every so often, but the factory is quite interesting.......but we only got to see final production and some of the on-site painting.......the foundry & engine/transmission building were 'out of bounds'..............

If any of you have been to the Triumph factory, I thought the Hinckley tour was a much better insight into what goes on 'under the skin'.....

Next time that you are in Bologna knock on the door at via Cavalino and say
"Can I comma ina to youra facatory per favora?"
"Sure isa no problemo signor."
That's how easy it is at Ducati. You may of course telephone, they will be equally accommodating. Wonderful place and the Museo Ducati is stunning.

Yes I`ve done the Hinckley tour a couple of times (pre fire) and I agree it was good.....perhaps I`ll not go too far out of my way to do Berlin.

Tours

Yes, Us Brits still make an excellent product in the Triumph, and the Tour is very worth while, But what do you expect from our lovely German partners, A wait of how long!!!!.

PS The GS is the Dog's B******s, ride on ! The 1100.
