Hi All

Decided to start using the GS for work, visiting clients etc. can anyone recommend an over suit with protection, so I can still wear the work suit etc.

I was looking at something less expensive than the Aerostich or BMW offerings, can stuff in paniers, not too bothered about insulation properties but needs to be water proof but only for short trips, my work is usually carried out in a 15 mile radius.

Have considered draggin jeans with water proofs over.

My main concern is turning up at someones house like a drowned rat.

Thanks in advance

Simon

Hi Sim,
I've just used one of the cheap thin oversuits from FT or HG but they are a pain to get in/out of.
The full length zip on the BMW one seems much easier (not tried one yet). That's what I would go for unless there is something like that but cheaper.

Cheers, Colin.

If you are oK with importing stuff there is the olympia phamtom. Also I think Alpinestar do something similar to the aerostich.

Bought the bright yellow BMW offering last spring and its the best waterproof oversuit I have used in many many years - apart from the colour.

I was tempted because I am over 6 foot with long legs and every suit I have owned rides up over the top of my boots within a few miles of riding and this suit is VERY long. It is also made of 100% waterproof material, has tear resistant material on lower legs and a strengthened area around the bum.

The sleeves have double cuffs with elastic on the inner and velcro outers and it is quite easy to get gloves between the two (and the sleeves are long enough so they stay there). The sleeves also have anti-flap straps on the upper arms.

The very long body zip and two extra long leg zips make it easy to get on over my size 11 boots.

This suit has kept out the water in some horrendous middle Europe downpours and for £80 is good value for the quality - its just a shame about the colour although I suppose it makes sense as its normally worn in poor vis conditions.

Aerostitch Roadcrafter or Olympia Phantom. I have the two piece suit of the Phantom and it's made in the US. Sizing is very easy since you can cut the legs if necessary and all the armour is adjustable.

I was lucky enough to come across a Rukka for £20 in my local paper. It is first class and in silver it dosent look silly as my bike is silver too.Had I been buying new,I probably would have bought Belstaff again.

Well typical of me, I have made the decision and purchased a pair of protective jeans, Red Route, which i know where on surveying days or when seeing clients and a trialmaster jacket and then use my cheap rain suit, the underclothing will give me a suitable amount of protection and look smart enough for my job when seeing clients.

Thanks all for the info Simon

Aren't we discussing three different kind of suits here? The Alpinestar Drystar is a one-piece overall waterproof suit, with CE armour everywhere, that you can wear on top of your everyday clothes. The BMW is just a waterproof one-piece suit, requiring protection underneath it. And the Joe Rocket is intended to be worn alone, with only underwear, as a one-piece protected suit. No?
