Hi, I asked the dealer to change the display to PSI rather than Bar but they don't know how to do it and apparently the BMW tech line don't either. This was possible on my old TC RT so why not on a GS TE ?

Any ideas ?

Williams in Manchester said that BMW couldn't tell them how to do it !

I have the BMW Sat Nav 5 and the tyre pressures display PSI on the info screen, an expensive option tho :)

Had mine changed from bar to psi, by Ocean Plymouth. So it is possible, but they could only do it after they upgraded their dealer software on their computer thing.
(2014 GS).

I've had "can't do/don't know/negative" comments in past from the same Dealership, then on another day, same question asked slightly different get's a 'proper' answer! Maybe worth trying them again sharing the knowledge that it can be done as others you know have had it done and see if they give you the answer. Yes there's a train of thought that says stuff em if they can't be arsed, but that doesn't resolve your issue!

Whilst I accept it might be a personal preference but bar or kPa is the modern metric system of pressure measurement, not PSI.

The number of bars is no harder to remember than the number of psi. The trigger point for the flat tyre sensor will be the same what ever the units.

It does seem strange though that earlier models could be changed by the owner and the latest cant be changed by all the dealers.

Changing from Bar

In oz, the last two Gs I have bought ,they have asked if I want Psi or Bar .They change to what you want before you collect your bike. The dealer says it is an easy change.

Move into the 21st century, remember the pressure in bar. If you can't do that take the easy option and multiply the bar figure by 14.7. Simple mental arithmetic :D

PSI

I changed mine in a few minutes using a GS911. I would actually be concerned about a dealer not knowing how to do this job.

I managed to solve this on my 09 GSA myself, without any fancy tools. Heres what I did...

First I deflated both tyres, allowing all the old 'Bar' air out. I then inflated them both with brand new PSI air that I bought from a Chinese seller on eBay. Job done :thumb2

If you have any left over maybe you should put it in the for sale section as there appears to be a need for some :thumb
